Though the "legend" is that the Pixie Bob breed originated as a result of the naturally occurring mating of a North American Bobcat and a domestic barn cat, there is no genetic evidence to corroborate this belief. Instead, over decades, these animals have been carefully and selectively bred to resemble their "wild" ancestors.
